Hypnosis for Sleep Problems

Since the clocks have gone back I have had numerous calls from clients who are experiencing problems with their sleep. The long Winter nights just emphasise to some people how poor their sleep patterns are especially if they have a partner lying in bed next to them who falls asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow. Hypnosis for Insomnia is a great tool to help those with an overactive mind or anxiety which is keeping their mind active  late into the night. But before you ring for hypnotherapy to help you sleep, check your sleep routines first as they are often the cause of the problem.

Before calling a hypnotherapist for your sleep disorder start by following some of these simple rules first.

1) Make sure that you go to sleep when you are feeling tired.

2) If you can’t fall asleep within 20 minutes you need to get up and do something boring. If you can avoid it don’t turn on bright lights as they will make you feel more awake.

3) Try and get into a sleep routine by going to bed at the same time each day. Late nights and lie ins during the weekend can ruin our sleep patterns leaving us over tired one minute and wide awake the next.

4) Use your bedroom for sleeping in and not for watching tv, playing video games and working on the computer.

5) Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for 3 to 4 hours before you go to bed.

6) Make sure your bed is comfortable and that the room temperature is not too hot or cold.

7) If the street where you live is noisy invest in some ear plugs.

8) Listen to a relaxation CD to start winding down.

In most cases I should be able to find the root cause of your problem and resolve it so that your normal sleep patterns are restored.
